Lily of the Valley Festival
Mid May
A rare species called "Japanese Lily of the Valley" grows wild in colonies in the area around the source of the Ashigawa River. It is rare to see this flower in such big colonies in Japan and it is also listed as one of Yamanashi Prefecture's natural treasures. It blooms as if it's hiding under the leaves but the lovely and pleasant aroma of the flower embraces and relaxes visitors. We are going to hold an event around the best time to see this lily of the valley, so please come and join us! We're looking forward to seeing you there.

Walking around Togenkyo
Early Apr.
Fuefuki city set April 10th as "Fuefuki city's Togenkyo (Heaven on Earth) Day" (Certified by Japan Anniversary Association). April 10th is the 100th day when counting from January 1st. 百 ("hyaku" means 100 in Japanese) can be also read as "momo", which means "peaches" in Japanese. 10日 ("Touka" means the 10th in Japanese) has the same sound as 桃花 (peach blossoms). Furthermore, peach blossoms are in full bloom around April 10th every year in our city, which has the largest peach acreage in Japan. The whole city gets colored in pink and when you see this beautiful scenery, you'll get why it's called "Togenkyo (Heaven on Earth)". Why don't you take a walk and enjoy the magnificent view where pink peach blossoms, the remaining white snow on Southern Alps and the blue sky make a beautiful color contrast?
