Isawa Ukai (a cormorant fishing)

Cormorant fishing on the Fuefukigawa River is called kachiu (walking cormorant fishing), and unlike the style of many other cormorant fishing operations in which several cormorants are controlled in a small boat, cormorant fishing on the Fuefukigawa River is a "cormorant-artist" style in which a single cormorant is controlled as it walks along the river. Why don't you try such a valuable cormorant fishing experience? We look forward to your participation!

Date: Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from July 21 (Sun.) to August 17 (Sat.), 2024
(Cormorant fishing will be held on July 20 and the end of cormorant fishing on August 18, but no cormorant fishing experience will be available.)

Location: In front of Fuefuki City Hall (777 Ichibe, Fuefuki-shi, Isawa-cho, Fuefuki-shi)

How to participate: Please fill out the registration form here.

Participation Fee: 3,500 yen per person (including a special "Cormorant" T-shirt)

Capacity: 2 groups per day (first-come-first-served basis, up to 3 people per group)

Requirements: Junior high school students or older, in good health, and able to work in the river.
